For all of us at DELTA, product safety is a value that is non-negotiable, from the start to the end of each and every product’s life. In order to achieve that, we comply with and implement the strictest rules and requirements of Quality Assurance to all our activities, from the ingredients and equipment to the facilities, the production of products and their distribution to the points of sale. Our quality management systems include, among others, the FOOD SAFETY SYSTEM CERTIFICATION 22000 (FSSC 22000), the AIB International – Consolidated Standards for Inspection / Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs and the IFS Food – Standard for Auditing Quality and Food Safety of Food Products.

Milk, in particular, is constantly tested at all points before and during its journey – it can be inspected as many as 2,500 times – so we can be 100% sure and proud of the product we offer you.

Inspections begin from the feed producers choosing for their livestock and continue throughout the journey of milk and any other raw materials. Moreover, in our state-of-the-art Molecular Microbiology laboratory in our facilities, we perform even more checks daily, quicker and even more precise, thus ensuring the highest levels of safety. Dozens of samples are analysed for presence or absence of genetically modified organisms, assuring their complete and total absence at all product manufacturing stages, all the way from the feed to the final product.

Lastly, thanks to our advanced traceability system, each product is uniquely identified, allowing us to know, at any given moment, from which raw material and which animal farms it was produced.

The safety of our products cannot, and will not, be negotiable.

“I started working at DELTA in 2001, right after I finished studying Chemistry and graduating with a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry. I have been head of the Department of Quality and Safety since 2008. What is it that we do here, exactly? We are essentially the “sentinels” of the plant! Our contribution has to do with product safety and that is why we check everything thoroughly – from raw materials to final products – using the most advanced and state-of-the-art technology available. We operate an entire system of quality and safety checks and processes, which makes sure that we are absolutely certain about the quality of each and every product reaching the consumer’s hands. This sense of responsibility is very high for us at DELTA. When you are dealing with 6-month old babies, you can’t be “relaxed” with your criteria! I, too, am a mother of two children and I know first-hand how sensitive and safety-conscious mothers can be about their children’s nutrition. I am no exception to this! In this company, I become “mother of” to all children, demanding nothing but the very best!”

Molecular Biologist at DELTA Molecular Microbiology Laboratory

“Being Director of the Molecular Microbiology department, I belong to the Quality Assurance Department. I am one of the lucky ones who love their job! I became a molecular biologist because I was always fascinated by DNA, because this is where all answers are hidden: Who we are, what we do, how we do it, our quality of life, even our very personality, are all written in it. Science has now become a part of my daily life, of all our daily lives. Each day, we learn and discover new things – and that’s what’s great about it. What we do evolves so rapidly, it becomes a daily challenge!

The team of DELTA’s microbiology laboratory provides microbiological and other services to DELTA’s plants. Our molecular microbiology techniques are not employed and cannot be found anywhere else in the industry. In 2004, we set up the first Molecular Laboratory, which was the first of its kind in the entire Dairy industry of Greece, and it was a large investment that demonstrated the company’s commitment to the high quality and maximum safety of its products. Over time, and by further developing our laboratory, we managed to analyse everything through the DNA process. We are the first State-certified molecular biology laboratory for dairy products.

One very important part of our job is to make sure that no genetically modified ingredients are present in our products. This is achieved through continuous checks and in combination with our SGS certification. As a result, when other companies merely claim not to use genetically modified food, we are able to actually prove that we are not using them at any point of our supply chain, from the cow feed to the final products – and this is something we are very proud of!”
